At Balsa we are constantly developing new pieces. We love to engage in conversations that elevate design and craft through learning and observation.
The Tepozteco Lounge Chair is focused on achieving the greatest comfort through rattan weaving. Its design is inspired by a conversation between the great Danish design classics of the early 20th century, and traditional weaving techniques in Mexico.
A very characteristic detail of the Tepozteco lounge chair is the double curvature present in the seat and back, which promotes a greater degree of comfort when sitting.
The seat and back of the Tepozteco lounge chair are made with natural rattan fabric on a metal frame, which is suspended through posts from the Mexican white oak wood structure.
The natural wicker weaving is made by Mexican artisans from the state of Queretaro, while the woodwork is produced in different workshops in Mexico City and its surroundings.
The Tepozteco lounge chair maintains the characteristic seal of Balsa, using natural materials through local artisan techniques, collaborating with Mexican artisans from different generations, promoting the conservation of traditional knowledge through material culture.
At its launch, Tepozteco comes in two versions:
Natural Rattan with white oak wood.
Toasted Rattan with tzalam wood.
